We did not stay there but had lunch on the rear verandah. They have four rooms which are quite basic. They have a bar and restaurant. The building itself is from the Raj era and evokes memories of a glorious past, It is well maintained. The food and snacks were very good specially the fish fingers.

The location is wonderful with the long level balcony overlooking a terraced hillside created by the British to achieve level lawns of considerable size. A rarity in hilly terrain. However the rooms are ill kept and are almost unsustainable given that there are only four in total. The business model is of parties, bar usage by groups of locals and some use of the restaurant. The room occupants are collateral casualties of such use. Access from the side parking is not barred, so all this casual traffic tramps though the magnificent verandah in front of the rooms rather than the grand main entrance which involves a considerable number of steps. The terrace where drinking takes place adjoins the rooms so the sounds of reverie carry plainly to the rooms themselves. The idyllic aspect of the rooms' orientation are, therefore, violated by the revenue earning activities. Given this drawback, the rooms are economical if the lack of upkeep and of general cleanliness can be tolerated. The cook though, is top-notch. The meals and snacks on offer are of standards unexpected in such shabby surrounds. As a Brit club it must have been wonderful and the amenity of a few incredibly situated rooms, genuinely to look forward to by the members. But as a holiday stay destination it falters somewhat badly. Too bad, for the potential for glory is obvious.

Ranikhet Club is well located on the beautiful hills of Ranikhet. It's in the cantonment area. The club's history goes back to 1869 when it was started as a sanatorium and a recreational club by the Britishers. It was exclusively for them. The club is a legacy of the colonial era. Even today it looks what it must have been in those good old days. Most of the furniture is from that era especially if you see the billiards room and the sitting lounge. The creaking noise from the dark wooden floors when you walk on them, takes you to those times. Today its membership is for the people of armed forces. However, the manual displayed outside says temporary members can pay Rs 50 per day and get the entry. We enjoyed a typical British tea time sandwiches and Indian pakoras . However , they also have a long menu for lunch and dinner. A visit to this scenic club is worthwhile because the gardens attract some beautiful birds . We also saw a family of langoors enjoying fruits from ageing trees.

This is a lovely little club located amidst greenery, lovely quaint colonial architecture, has a bar, a dining room, a library and even a ballroom which now houses the TT table! It has some greenery around it with a good view and also an outside cement tennis court! Always loved visiting it!

This stay at this place was memorable. The location of this property is great. It also hosts billiard and card rooms. The continental food served here is very delicious. The rooms are not so great but overall experience is good.
